Classes Taught: Workshopping (I’d like to change this from drilling because really we’re doing a combo of traditional class and people coming in with problems they’re having). Everyone moves through jiu-jitsu at a different pace, and we all encounter difficulties. Workshop classes are a place you can bring your questions and work on the fine points of your favorite techniques. From drilling to positional training to full-on sparring, this is a place to get the kinks out as you develop your own style of jiu-jitsu.
Bio: Nate is a writer and translator originally from Tennessee, who’s back in Philly after a decade in Spain.
Why Jiu-Jitsu: Jiu-jitsu is equal parts mental and physical, and thinking through problems and their solutions makes it stimulating. At the same time, it’s the most welcoming martial art, light on the ceremony and heavy on the fun. I have to travel a lot, and no matter where I go, I have a home on the mats.
Goals: I just want to keep learning and keep coming in and help my teammates any way I can.
